Internships & Career Readiness

In today’s challenging job market, it’s not enough for a college student to graduate with a degree. Students need job experience that prepares them for a career. PCF is unique in providing summer internship placement and stipends to our scholarship recipients, in combination with career success training and mentoring.

PCF’s internship program assists scholars in obtaining summer internships and employment during their college years that will assist them in selecting their course of study and prepare for post-college careers. We also provide stipends to scholars who obtain unpaid career-focused internships, to allow them to take advantage of those opportunities.

Our scholars secure internships and summer jobs in local businesses, non-profits, universities, and social enterprises. Recent placements included Hewlett Packard, Benetech, Stanford University, Bay Area Legal Aid, Marine Science Institute, Art in Action, and Ronald McDonald House.

Starting in 2013, all incoming scholars are required to participate in a minimum of one career-oriented summer job or internship. Our program staff work year-round to cultivate opportunities for them and assist them in the internship-search process.

Local employers interested in offering internship opportunities to our talented scholars can contact Denise Villamil, Internship Coordinator, at denise@peninsulacollegefund.org or 650-727-6563 for more information.
