“I am thankful to know that I am receiving help and support from so many people that care for me and that is what makes my college experience a lot better. ” -Claritza, 2006 Scholar

JuliaJulia has fortitude and persistence” says one of her teachers at Menlo-Atherton. How else would you describe a young woman who has been a self-supporting independent minor throughout much of high school, who has held down a half-time job, tutored young kids, still earned honor roll and was named 2008 Youth of the Year by the Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula? Julia is a perfect example of PCF’s criteria of giving back to the community – her Boys & Girls Club supervisor says “Her kind acts have proven her passion to give back to other children what she has learned and received from older role models.” Julia hopes to become a lawyer following her studies at Loyola Marymount so that she can continue to make a difference in people’s lives.
