Mentors shepherd Bay Area students toward their goals

Just two years ago, Christopher Hernandez was on a fast-track to nowhere: ditching class at Yerba Buena High, turned away at another school for gang ties, kicked out of a third for fighting and on the verge of being thrown out of his house.
