2025 Peninsula College Fund Program Application

This application is for all students who plan to matriculate into a 4-year college or university or for a select few students who are beginning their college journey at a community college with the intention of transferring to a 4-year college or university to complete their Bachelor’s degree.

  • Students matriculating into a 4-year college/university receive a $12,000 scholarship ($3,000 per year)
  • Students matriculating into a 2-year community college who transfer to a 4-year college/university receive $10,000 scholarship ($2,000 for up to two years at a community college and $3,000 for up to 2 years at a 4-year college/university)
  • Students collaborate with a mentor who will guide and advise them throughout college
  • Students access PCF’s college and career success trainings, events, and advisory services
  • Students access PCF’s internship support services

This application is for a select few students who are graduating from high school in East San José and plan to begin their college journey at Evergreen Valley College or San José City College with a *guaranteed pathway to transfer to Santa Clara University.

  • Students receive special guidance and support from PCF, Evergreen Valley College/San José City College, and Santa Clara University
  • Students receive a $10,000 scholarship ($2,000 for up to two years at a community college and $3,000 for up to 2 years at Santa Clara University or another 4-year college)
  • Students collaborate with a mentor who will guide and advise them throughout college
  • Students access PCF’s college and career success trainings, events, and advisory services
  • Students access PCF’s internship support services

*Students must meet class and GPA minimum requirements in order to qualify for guaranteed transfer

*Eligibility Requirements

Enroll in a four-year accredited college/university or for a select few students, enroll in a community college with the intention of transferring to a 4-year college or university following your senior year in high school

  • Attend any public or private high school in San Mateo or Santa Clara County
  • Have a 2.8-3.8 cumulative unweighted GPA upon HS graduation
  • Be a first-generation college student or the first in your family to graduate from college
  • Demonstrate a financial need
  • Demonstrate a willingness to engage in PCF’s support and services

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about the PCF Application Process

  • Do I have to submit a letter of recommendation?

    No, you will need to provide two references, and they will be contacted to provide a recommendation for you.

  • Do I have to be a U.S. citizen to apply?

    No! The normal PCF application is open to undocumented students as well as students who have DACA status.

    *Students applying to the Santa Clara University and The Peninsula College Fund Transfer Scholars Program must be legal residents of the US.

  • Who will my PCF mentor be?

    PCF mentors are professional adults who volunteer their time and are passionate about supporting first-generation college students. Mentors go through an application process, a background check, and then we match them with students based on career interests, personality and a variety of other factors.

  • Can I attend any college/university?

    You can apply our scholarship to any accredited four-year college or university in the U.S.

    If you are applying to the Santa Clara University and The Peninsula College Fund Transfer Scholars Program, you must be enrolling in either San Jose City College or Evergreen Valley College to begin your educational journey with the intention of transferring to Santa Clara University or another 4-year college and graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree.

  • What qualifies as a "low-income" student?

    We use the HUD income limits from San Mateo County and Santa Clara County as our guideline. Any student who falls in the low-income threshold qualifies for our program and will be considered.
