ELEMENTS OF SUPPORT
We invite individuals to join together in teams to provide the following elements of support for students:
Scholarships: Awards are given for four years of college. The value of each scholarship is $3,000 per year. The funding goal in each case is to help address the shortfall between financial assistance earned by the students and the true cost of their education. The scholarships given to them may be used towards tuition, the purchase of a computer, transportation, clothing or books, and therefore will directly assist the student in making the college experience a reality.
Personal Mentors: Each student is matched with one or more caring and committed individuals who provide advice, counseling, guidance and friendship throughout the four years of the student’s college education. Sponsorship teams, and their individual members, are key to the success of the mentoring program. This relationship begins during the spring of the student’s senior year of high school. Such mentor involvement should ensure a higher chance for success in college.
Summer Internships: Starting after the students’ freshman year, jobs will be secured based on student ability, experience, area of study and career goals. Work experience may assist students in building networking skills, career ambitions and earning capabilities.
Support Community: Fellow students, sponsoring teams, mentors and other donors will create a support community for all recipients of the Fund. Community attendance is encouraged at the annual awards ceremony, holiday reunion and other events.
